Truth & Lies - Sin
Scripture to Read: Romans 7
Everyone sins. Everyone! But how we walk (our day-to-day, consistent choices) allows us to see whether we walk in the light or the darkness. God is clear that he who says he has no sin is a liar. But many use words to say they are sinless. We often say this by our actions in how we live.
May we learn to see our sin as Paul saw his and understand how wretched we are without the Lord Jesus Christ?
Truth & Lies - Hope
Scripture to Read: John 14
Hope will never ride in on Airforce One, come from the next big event, or even on payday. We must focus our eyes on the Hope that is truly before us.
There is a problem in the world. A deep-seated problem. And it is not that we don't get our way, or something went wrong, or even actual pain and suffering we walk through. It is not racism, injustice, inequality, unfairness, or anything else that often gets the attention today.
Our deep-seated problem is sin, and there is but one answer to that problem: Jesus Christ and His work on the cross. He is not simply a good teacher or even simply a friend. We have to understand who He is and why we need Him above all else.
Hope rode in a donkey, quietly and unassuming, and paid the debt we could never have paid.
